Accurant LLC is a progressive, expanding, full-service accounting and tax firm with multiple locations throughout the Midwest. We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated senior tax accountant to work out of our Sturgis, SD location. In this pivotal role, you will lead complex tax compliance and planning initiatives, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards while optimizing tax strategies for our clients. Qualifications:​
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a similar field required
  • CPA license or Enrolled Agent certification preferred
  • At least five years of extensive tax prep experience (individual, corporate and partnership tax) in a CPA firm setting
  • Strong knowledge of tax law, regulatory compliance accounting, and financial reporting standards
  • Ag/ranch experience a plus
  • Must live in close proximity to the office in order to meet with clients in-person
  • Desire to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills, displaying the ability to connect & build relationships with clients, firm leadership and peers

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, non-profits and businesses
  • Create and discuss tax planning scenarios with clients
  • Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues
  • Make final adjusting entries for business clients prior to preparing tax returns
  • Review the work of less experienced staff
  • Collaborate with clients to communicate tax strategies effectively, addressing inquiries related to tax reporting, tax law changes, and financial analysis

We’re looking for an experienced bookkeeper to work out of our Austin, MN location. Responsibilities:
  • Main contact for your clients
  • Maintain records of financial transactions
  • Record transactions in the proper general ledger accounts
  • Bank and other account reconciliations
  • Review account records for accuracy
  • Prepare financial statements including Balance Sheet and P&L
  • Payroll
  • Some administrative work including sharing phone duties
Qualifications:
  • At least two years of bookkeeping experience
  • Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting methods, including double-entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting and cash accounting
  • Ability to use spreadsheets and accounting software to produce key financial reports
  • Understanding of basic tax liabilities, including payroll and sales tax
